the travel facade
I don’t want to sound ungrateful that I get to travel for work. But it’s different. Right about now, 3 days in I’m ready to go home. I’m not just ready, I’m raring to go home!! Who’s EGG-CITED?!
You never realise how comforting it is to communicate with ease until you’re in a situation where neither party can understand the other and an ever simple request or question takes four times the effort and time.
Or the disappointment when you realise that pictures paint a different story to the touristy commercialise feel of a charming spot of the country. Commercialisation kills it all man. Seriously!
Maybe it really is the “grass is greener on the other side” syndrome we have about travelling. That despite all the lure of travel, we really just want to feel at home.
